Barickman named to Forestry Development Council

Springfield –State Sen. Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) has been appointed to the Illinois Forestry Development Council.

"Our forests are a major asset to the state’s economy and ecology,” said Barickman. “I look forward to working to help steward this important resource for the coming generations.”

The council is made up of 29 members, including a bipartisan group of lawmakers and members of the forestry industry, along with other governmental, business and environmental leaders.

The Forestry Development Council is tasked with studying the state’s forestry resources, industries, and regulations, to help enhance the utilization of forests for economic, environmental and recreational growth.

Senator Barickman co-owns a small tree farm along with his brother Joel, a 6th generation farmer who operates the grain farm where both brothers were raised.

“I’m excited to be able to utilize my background as a lawmaker, and my new experiences in forestry to the work of the council,” said Sen. Barickman.

Senator Barickman’s new position on the council is unpaid.
