Please join the thousands of parents, school administrators, school board members, businesses, and taxpayers who are demanding a real solution to education funding inequity in Illinois. With the support of Vision 20/20, a coalition of educators and concerned residents, we have filed Senate Bill 1403, which would create an evidence-based funding model for all schools.
It’s a transparent, common-sense approach that eliminates arbitrary budget decisions and instead links actual educational outcomes to increases or decreases in state funding.
Ultimately, our evidence-based solution is scalable and realistic, regardless of the budget decisions made by political leaders. It allows educators to adopt best practices. However, it retains flexibility at the district level, so that districts control their allocation of state funds based on their experience and knowledge to match their local needs, and in order to best support each individual student.
Further, this plan contains a hold harmless provision, which allows us to eliminate the “winners and losers” controversy that could plague any reform effort like this.
Please sign up below to show your support for education funding reform and tell all Illinois lawmakers that now is the time to pass this comprehensive, fair, and effective measure.
